Rogue Reporters is a deep dive into cold war politics in Finland, at a point where the most prominent political journalists in the country decide to break the most holy of rules: to tell the truth about Finlands tradition of selfcensorship and the influence of the Soviet Union in Finnish politics and journalism.
The documentary tells the story of the political scandal caused by the book 'The Spoils of Tamminiemi' from the perspective of the journalists who wrote it.

Beautifully grainy 8mm film images create a hazy atmosphere to the film, while Roos’ own memories entwine touchingly with reports by officials and other sources.

In 1980, Finland’s most famous hypnotist Olavi Hakasalo, a.k.a Olliver Hawk, was put on trial accused of fraud. His mission in life had been to spread the gospel of the power of suggestion, and he was willing to risk everything to become a player of political influence. But in the corridors of power, with a nation’s destiny at stake, an eccentric showman sitting on too many secrets is considered a liability.
A meditation on power and mythmaking in Finland during the Cold War, explored through the tale of the countries most famous hypnotist Olliver Hawk.
